Sutter health
In 1998, Eden affiliated with Sutter Health, a not-for-profit health system in Northern California. This decision enabled us to preserve vital community services and to invest in the latest in clinical and information technologies, and to introduce innovative patient safety technology.
Recognizing that healthcare was changing drastically – having a devastating effect on hospitals across the country – the Eden Township Healthcare District began a search for a partner to help the hospital meet the demands of the 21st century. Through a rigorous public search, the District chose to affiliate with Sutter Health because of their shared mission and vision for the community hospital.

In Alameda County, hospitals are struggling to continue their missions in the face of unprecedented challenges.  Some have turned to taxpayer support just to keep their doors open, and others are teetering on the brink of closure.  In 1998, Eden affiliated with Sutter Health, a not-for-profit health system in Northern California. This decision was the right choice for Eden, enabling us to preserve vital community services and to invest in the latest in clinical and information technologies, and to introduce innovative patient safety technology.

Today, Sutter Health is working to replace the aging Eden Medical Center facility, bringing the community a state-of-the-art $300 million medical center and continuing medical, surgical and rehabilitative services.
